Project Summary
The Curriculum Development in Clinical Dentistry Treatment with Haptic-Based Virtual Reality Application (CDHVR) project is an Erasmus+ Higher Education project aimed at developing and implementing a comprehensive and effective curriculum for virtual reality-based dentistry education. This curriculum will enhance students’ learning experiences by combining haptic feedback technology with virtual reality simulations, allowing them to practice clinical dentistry treatments in a safe and controlled environment. The project team will identify the specific learning objectives and outcomes necessary for virtual reality-based dentistry education. The curriculum approaches for this education will be examined within the scope of the European Union, and based on the findings, workshops will be organized and evaluated. A new curriculum will be prepared, and infrastructure will be established to ensure that the facilities available at different universities can also be accessed in our country. This initiative is expected to make a significant contribution to the dissemination of virtual reality-based training in dental faculties in our country.
Objectives
The main objective of the project is to develop and implement a comprehensive and effective curriculum for VR-based dentistry education. The project aims to achieve this objective by:
Identifying the learning objectives and outcomes for the curriculum: The project team will identify the specific learning objectives and outcomes that need to be achieved through VR-based dentistry education.
Implementation
The curriculum approaches of this education will be examined within the scope of the European Union. With the findings obtained, workshops will be organized and evaluated and a new curriculum will be prepared. Infrastructure will be established in order to ensure that the facilities available in different universities are also available in our country. It’s also considered will make an important contribution to the dissemination of VR-based training in our country’s dental faculties.
Results
Project results are including 4 outputs. With the first output, a research report will be prepared for the needs of Higher Education Students on VR Dental Simulation, technical requirements will be prepared, and in this context, the infrastructures of the existing participants will be visited. Output 2 is the realization of Training Module Development and simulation bench purchases. Output 3 tutorial for VR Integrated Dental Hands-on-training. Finally, output 4 is common curriculum development.
